Childhood Obesity
Obesity in children and adolescents is a
serious issue with many health and social consequences
that often continue into adulthood. Implementing
prevention programs and getting a better understanding
of treatment for youngsters is important to
controlling the obesity epidemic.
Children are teased not only by their friends
but by adults around them, by family members
and by teachers at school. Children who are
teased about their weight suffer from anxiety
and stress and in extreme cases can be driven
to suicide.
What about Childhood and Adolescent Obesity?
Childhood and adolescent obesity is a serious
health and societal problem that is rising at
exceedingly extreme rates; one might call it
an epidemic. Our children and adolescents are
facing more serious health problems, peer pressure,
societal difficulty, and psychological trauma
due to obesity than in the past. The extreme
seriousness of this is especially imperative
to be aware of because childhood and adolescent
obesity in many cases then turns in to adulthood
obesity. We are talking about a lifetime of
health and emotional problems.
